Because of the stigma often associated with drug and/or alcohol dependence, the negative attitudes toward persons with addictive disorders and the ambivalent values of society, individuals and their families are often unwilling to seek treatment for their problems. It is essential, therefore, that the CTP offer a therapeutic environment based on the premise that individuals should be treated with dignity and respect, and where positive behavior and healthy decision making are encouraged and modeled, further enhancing the therapeutic process and facilitating more positive outcomes process. Therefore, our overall goal for each patient is recovery from drug dependency and the development of an independent and constructive lifestyle.
